They Hate Us, They Really Do

I’m at the YRNF Fall Board meeting in Houston and just got back from Wild West.  The Massachusetts Contingent wore their Boston Red Sox colors to the festivities tonight and I wasn’t ready for the hatred that out of state sports fans have for our teams.  Yoda was right, Jealousy leads to hate.  😉

Especially fun were my new friends from Indiana.  Talking to a fellow New Englander that is working in Indiana right now, they have been morose for a week, and the Pats were a very touchy subject.

Don’t forget we have the chance at another title this week.  Go Revs!!!

…I rather doubt that mere sports rivalry is the only reason that outlanders hate Bay Stater’s and our teams – ifyaknowwhatImean.

..national YR events do not seem to attract value voters.

I have few problems being hated after thinking about the thin years here in New England. Sitting on an aluminum bleacher in the high school quality “Sullivan Stadium” in the sleet and rain, down 31-3 late in the 3rd quarter with a 2-11 record. Not to mention an hour and a half wait to leave the mudded parking lot before I got out on Rt. 1 to sit for another 45 minutes. Ahh, the good ol’ days with coach Dick MacPherson who had no idea if flamboyant kick-returner Walter Stanley was even half as dangerous as he said he was.

I know I don’t prefer Fenway Park patrolled by Tim Naehring, Tom Brunansky and Carlos Quintana over Kevin Youkalis, Manny Ramirez and Mike Lowell. Yeah it was less abrasive coming up with an 84-78 record for other cities but sorry..I ain’t sorry.

I can remind you of how Boston College was a Big East bottom dweller, how the Celtics, after losing two 1st round draft choices to cocaine related deaths, roamed in a purgatory called the Fleet Center. No one felt bad for Boston or New England and cried out that we needed stars to migrate here in concentrated levels to saturate our pain with win and win. This is a run every other city in America wishes it was on and for now can only watch our bliss. Enjoy this New England. the sub-par seasons will be back as sure as death and taxes.
