This is just plain wrong

I’ve told Mr. Howard to come back and talk to me when a major news outlet talks about what he rails about.  One egg and one sperm to make a child, and science that is trying to change that.  Well from the UK comes this story.

Women might soon be able to produce sperm in a development that could allow lesbian couples to have their own biological daughters, according to a pioneering study published today.

Scientists are seeking ethical permission to produce synthetic sperm cells from a woman’s bone marrow tissue after showing that it possible to produce rudimentary sperm cells from male bone-marrow tissue.

The researchers said they had already produced early sperm cells from bone-marrow tissue taken from men. They believe the findings show that it may be possible to restore fertility to men who cannot naturally produce their own sperm.

This leads down the slippery slope to cloning and is ethicially wrong on so many levels.

While the one trick pony style of Mr. Howard does get old.  This article seems to give his thoughts some credence.

….that Mr. Howard prattles on about is not just about cloning or genetic engineering.  That portion of his platform has a reasonable basis in reality and is a topic that warrants discussion.  It is his conflation of genetic engineering with same sex marriage and his erroneous suppositions about constitutional rights to conception that have been objectionable and remain as such regardless of any recent advances in technology.  While this particular story leads with the eye catching, salacious prediction that lesbians will finally be able to rid themselves of men, it should be noted that the study began and continues as an attempt to cure infertility in men.  Mr. Howard’s imagined belief that gay married people are more willing to exploit this technology than the large population of infertile heterosexuals who have been the engine driving the technology to this precipice remains as absurd as it has always been.

  • Thanks for this post, and the one you posted at BMG.  Every little news story might be the one that breaks this concept through and gets people seeing the whole picture.

We should be able to ban genetic engineering very soon, there is no need to wait until the MSM has told us that it is possible.

When the State Legislature holds new hearings on same-sex marriage this year, we should go down there with this message:

Same-sex couples should not be allowed to conceive children together, using their own genes.

All marriages must be allowed to attempt to conceive children together, using their own gametes.

We really should make them explailn why they demand the right to do genetic engineering to have daughters together, why Love doesn’t Make A Family any more.

    Bone-marrow or boner-marrow tissue?

    A growing culture of fatherlessness

“There are multiple ironies in this unfolding revolution, not least that the technology that allows women to have a family without men reinforces the worst that women fear in men. Think of all the complaints you hear: Men can’t commit, they’re irresponsible, they don’t take care of the kids. By going to a sperm bank, women are unwittingly paying men to be exactly what they object to. But why expect anything different? The very premise of AI is that, apart from their liquid DNA, we can will men out of children’s lives…

But let’s not kid ourselves that such a rule would also put an end to fatherlessness – which is nourished by our cultural predilection for individual choice unconstrained by tradition, the needs of children, or nature itself…”

    Ok not abot same-sex conception.

    Men your days are numbered.

    Nice knowing ya.
